Abstract. The research was conducted in a greenhouse on tomato grown in rockwool, peat and sand using a fertigation system. Even though all growth media received equal amounts of the same nutrient solution, nutrients content in the media was varied, but in tomato leaves was similar.

Summary

The experiments were carried out on tomato grown in rockwool, peat or sand using a fertigation system without recirculation. All media were fertilised in the same way. Even though all growth media received equal amonts of the same nutrient solution, nutrients content in the media was varied strongly. The lowest content of mineral nitrogen, potassium, calcium and magnesium was measured in sand. N, P, K, Ca and Mg content of tomato leaves was similar for all growing media tested. The ratio N:K in the media was varied during the vegetation period, but in leaves similar.
